Why is there a Proximate icon appearing by my mouse pointer with a green up arrow on it?
There's a new version of Proximate ready to install!

Proximate automatically checks for updates when it launches and every 24 hours to ensure you're always using the latest version.
When a new version of Proximate is available for your system, it will be downloaded in the background. When the download is complete, you'll see a Proximate icon with a bright green up arrow appear next to your mouse pointer, indicating it's time to install the new update. This upgrade reminder icon disappears as soon as the latest version of Proximate is installed. The icon can also be temporarily hidden using Proximate's built-in Wipe All Icons or Show/Hide All Items shortcuts.
To update Proximate, click the Proximate icon in the menu bar (macOS) or taskbar (Windows), then click the second-to-last item labeled "Update to [latest version number]" (e.g. Update to 1.6.24").
Proximate will then quit, install the update automatically, and then relaunch.
