Why does Proximate need extra permissions in macOS?

Ian Spector

Last Update 4 days ago

There are several functions built into Proximate that rely on macOS features that Apple requires users to enable themselves.

Here's how we utilize each one:

  • Accessibility: This permission is required for Proximate to determine when applications you are monitoring trigger a notification by using the macOS Accessibility API.

  • Screen Recording: This permission is required for Proximate's Color Picker function and for any other macOS interaction that requires access to screen pixel data.

Need help setting these permissions correctly? Take a look at our other article or submit a support ticket.
